9.16.21 Missouri River Fishing Report
Lovely autumn weather we have been having here in central Montana. Hi’s in the 70’s, lows in the 40’s. Water temps at 60F-ish. Flows 3100cfs.
Streamer fishing pretty damn good on any given day. White has faded for some. Black and olive coming to the front? Changes often, but the white craze seems to have subsided for a bit. All-round lines are fine, or an intermediate tip will suffice. Think skinny. Think fast. Or don’t think at all.
Nymphers like the dam. Zebra parade. The rest like Bubble Yums and sows. Scuds and sows. HH is your fly destination here on the Mo. Yep, daily. Try any small may fly pattern or large may fly pattern for that matter. 12-22 in play right now.
The dry fly gang can get them to eat with a 14 tan caddis. Or a 12 Adams. Or a cripple! Not much happening for the dry fly gang. More later as the month progresses.
Small fish in the canyon. Lots of 10 brown trout race to your fly. Catch a few larger ones too. Vacant for traffic.
Shop daily 7am. Shuttles, the Best Flies Under the Big Sky, maps, free consistent information, coffee, guides, SIMMS, killer HH T’s and hats, gloves, sunscreen, and more…
