Monday Morning Missouri River Fishing Report

The smoke comes and goes. Yesterday it returned. Saturday she was nice and clear. Today? I think the smoke will hang around. Check out the air quality report here.

The weather this week will be warm and smoky.

Hi’s near 90 will greet you in the afternoons. Why not get out in the mornings and enjoy the cooler weather. Plus the trout like it too.

The streamer fishing has been the buzz around Headhunters Fly Shop. Why? I think just to get out of the nymphing rut and the hopper fishing has not been all that good so why not try something different. That is why we have been so excited about something different., And, we are on the cusp of fall.

The nymphing game is the same. Most are up towards the dam. But not all. Like we have been stating here on the blog and in the shop the fishing from the top to the bottom is good.

Flies include all the regular summer ’15 stars. Peep Show, Little Green Machine, Zebra’s, S & M, Indigo Child, Red Headed Step Child, Two Bit Hookers, Crawdad’s, Pat’s Rubber Legs and so forth.

We are in the last week of August and September is around the corner. September is one of our busier months with lots of folks out here nymphing. It is one of the top nymphing months. Good fishing for sure. Some October Caddis stuff on top too. The small BWO’s come out too. They can drive a guy to drink when they start rising.
