The fish do not seem to respond to the same sort of stimuli as we do…
I’m pretty sure they are not aware of the super deals online today.
Quiet here on the river today. Will be for the week with the weather approaching.
Having said that, the fishing has been shit hot for the late fall period. Folks stripping, swinging, bobbing and tossing dry flies too.
Cyber Monday Fishing Report
The Dry Game: Baetis and Midges are the prevalent bugs and the flies reflect that. Crips, some duns, emerges, and soft hackles are the key to fooling a few of our growing rising trout.
The Bobber Crew: Whacking the piss out of them on the fire bead. Pink too. Some BWO and Midge pupa patterns still going out the door and on the line. Fishing medium fast to medium slow water speeds and medium to deep water columns. The water temps are holding at 40F, but they we inevitably drop this week with daytime and nighttime air temps in the zero and sub-zero zones.
Swingers: Getting them on the dead swing. The fish have been rumored to be hitting it hard, but not always staying pinned. So goes the streamer battle. The 2 Handed Clinic this Saturday is up in the air. We’ll be letting you know Wednesday morning about the status of the clinic. Dry tips, Intermediate tips and T-8 has been popular.
Strippers: Having good success too. Aggressive takes on their end too. Not always staying on the line. Look for the deeper water if the trout are not in the skinny stuff. How about a new streamer line this winter? Go on, treat yourself. You do deserve it. If your wife needs new shoes, then you need a new fly line. See, simple.
Weather…damned bitter cold.

Mark, your assessment for swinging is right on. Pinning them on Saturday was tough. The white was right on the slow swing.
Dry fly fishing is done with line and flies that float, joined by a leader, usually made of fine polyamide monofilament line. The tapered leader is 3 to 5 meters long, thus nearly invisible where the fly is knotted, and the angler can replace the last meter of nylon as required.
