Saturday Morning Fishing Report from Headhunters of Craig Montana

Saturday Morning Fishing Report

Less wind today. Super windy yesterday. It finally took most of the leaves and placed them in the next county. What is left, is in my yard.

Streamer fishing not terrible yesterday. Enough to keep you interested. White, yellow, not so flashy. The remainder fo the streamer selection, not as good! Light lines, including the dry line, like the intermediate streamer tips are what you need. Come into HH of Craig and get our tips from our vast selection!

Nymphing with Czech’s and small BWO patterns along with the omni-present Zebra emulating the stubby grayish diptera that is out there fill in the gaps. Medium depth without split shot. Or go the split route in the morning, and if it is working, don’t change a thing man!

The dry fly bite not terrible either yesterday. Good reports from up top in the dam nd WC region with the lower canyon producing some nice fish as well. Cripples seem to rule the day(s).

Better fall weather on tap fro the upcoming week. Leave the wind at home please. You can visit, but you are required to bring along a few clouds, and a Box of Rain.

Headhunters Fly Shop open daily 8-6. Late fall hours are in place. Guide trip out and available. Check out the Spey Especial for a mere $400 you can get a full on Trout Spey Only trip. A great deal for a great month of swinging ahead this November and December.

  • Mark, pro tip from my father. Mow your lawn shorter than any of your neighbors in the fall. When the wind blows, the leaves will move right across your yard and stick on the neighbors….. at least that’s what he claimed….
