HEADHUNTERS SAYS The new Orvis Mission 3 and 4 weight spey models are supercharged rods that love to shoot. The action is traditional spey, but with fantastic power. Large grain windows make it possible to rig the rod for underlined touch-n-go casting, or overlined sustained anchor casting. The Mission loves mono shooting line, and we recommend Scientific Anglers Absolute Shooting line or OPST Lazar line before adding your favorite shooting head. The 11’4″ 3 weight is slightly more powerful than most 3 weights, and is the perfect do-it-all trout spey rod. You can swing small soft hackles on light tippet, or swim a sink tip and a big sculpin pattern in heavy water. The 11’4″ 4 weight is the perfect rod for those who love to cover big water with big articulated streamers on Skagit systems (think Yellowstone River).
