The much anticipated NRS Freestone Drifter has finally arrived at Headhunters. We’ve received many questions about this “inflatable drift boat” designed by the whitewater/fishing guru’s at NRS. Many questions revolve around performance, but just as many are curious about the packaging and set-up. After all, this boat comes standard ground shipping. Yes, you can mail it.
Sara and Ninch are here to give you an idea about the size of the package, and what set-up entails. Pretty easy as you can see. Sara says it took and eighteen pack to build it. Not true. I had a few of those beers as well while operating the camera.
If you’re interested in a performance review and video, give us some time to properly use the boat in a variety of conditions and rivers.

I’m glad someone noticed. I worked up a sweat sprinting in and out of the frame to move that box. Plus, I grabbed one and chugged it in between each frame….
The chugging between frames is important… keep morale up and all that.

Awesome video… I’ve got a Freestone on order—I’ll make sure I’ve got an 18-er ready for the day she shows up! Question for you about trailers—what do you think the optimal solution is? Drift boat trailer? Flat bed raft-style trailer? Do you expect to the keep the boat inflated and have it live on the trailer? Or do you plan to break it down frequently?
Definitely living on the trailer for us. I think it works best on a flatbed, though I’ve used them on both. If it lives on drift boat trailer bunks, it may leave a small impression that doesn’t affect performance. I also think it slides up better on a raft trailer.
can you put a small motor on this water craft to move up the Missouri at Craig?

Gerald – weve beens so busy I missed this one. The answer is – yes, I suppose, but you would probably need to move and remount the rear anchor bracket. The Freestoen is so light that Im sure it would scoot along great with an electric.
