Friday Fishing Update Headhunters Fly Shop Craig Montana
Longer fishing report a couple days ago, reference if you wish.
Flows low at 2870cfs. Pretty dam low. Water temps have fallen 2 degrees in the past 2 days. Currently 56F. Perfect!
Overcast skies yesterday. Fish like that. Fish were rising to the small baby BWO, Psuedocloeon. Caddis and an Adams with a side of BWO Cripple got it done. Finicky? Yes.
Nymphers glued to the shorter leash with BWO derivations and sow bugs leading the charge.
Strippers getting a few. The bright orange ball in the sky has not helped matters with trout wanting what we eat as anglers, overcast and seasonal weather. Sun in the fall is not a great factor for fishing.
Air temps in the 50’s and 60’s with 70F Sunday.
Swingers tossing streamer flies. Soft hackles not at the top of the list. Yet.
Boat rentals, Best Flies Under the Big Sky, Missouri River Spey Central with rods, reels, accessories, tons of Spey Lines for both Scandi and Skagit fans, information, education, and a friendly fun shop staff to assist min your shuttle needs, guide trips, and the like open daily at 7am.
Enjoy your weekend!
