Missouri River Fishing Report
Good to great fishing on Montana’s Missouri River. The fishing is strong, consistent, extremely fun. We would love to have overcast skies and light rain. Alas, not for the next few days. Will the coming weekend bring us the perfect storm?
3 Time Periods for your angling this coming week. Keep it light, keep on your toes, and change when you need to. Enjoy!
- Mornings til about noon can be tough. Nymphing and streamer fishing can bring a few. Nymphing probably gets your highest body counts. Dry flies will get you a few. Meaning you get a few opportunities. Seize the moment and cast/drift well! Dead stuff floatig in back eddies is the game…
- Nooner til 3pm. Good nymphing and streamer fishing is turning on. More rising fish as the sun and heart of the day progress higher. Move your nymph rig shallower and roll. For the dry fly gang, an Adams with an emerger dragging behind it is a proven winner. Streamer Freaks? Keep casting.
- Late day into the evening period. The dry fly bite is at its peak and fishing well. All flies like the Adams, the Cripple, the Emerger, and the Transitional Duns and Knock Downs will keep your fire lit. The Streamer gang has got sore arms this time of day. The nymphers have retired and moved on to the bar.
Flows are holding at 3K and the water temps are holding at 51F. Really good my fishy friends.
