Missouri River Flows for Late June

Questions about flows following the rainstorms of the week. It spit again today with significant rains the past couple days. What will happen with the flows in the near future?

Inflows at Toston are currently 6750cfs. Outflows at Holter are 6270cfs. Lake levels at 98%. Core of Engineers owns the top and last 3% of the Canyon Ferry Reservoir.

If we get a bundle more, an inch or two, the water will get pushed through the system and we will see some higher flows. If we get more rain, lots of it.

The 10 day forecast is for hotter weather and only a scant amount of precipitation.

As inflows drop at Toston, our outflows here at Holter will follow suit.

Wade fishers unite.

PMD’s hatching daily. Trico’s on tap.

Most are drift nymphing out there. The fishing report there is good to great. PM’s nymphs are the leader with BWO, Sow, and Trico nymphs following closely behind. As the flows drop the nymph rigs get shorter. Not many streamer strippers around as the dry fly and nymph game is strong. A few swingers out there enjoying the pre-weed session with PMD patterns coupled with Scandi lines and smiles.

Looking good for the month ahead. Stop in and see us in Craig. Open daily early.

Flows, June
