Missouri River Mid-Week Report
Already Thursday today while Headhunters Fly Shop brings you the Missouri River Mid-Week Report. Th espirn his happening. The Golden-Eye ducks are gone and the Pelicans are here. Must be spring.
The air temps have ranged from 80F to snowing. When you pack to come to the Mo in April be prepared for anything.
Mid April Highlights
BWO’s hatching big time. Daily. The only reason we are not totally stoked is because sometimes the wind blows. And the sun shines. We prefer clouds and moisture. The fish do too.
Midges hatching daily as well. Mornings before too many folks around is a good time to rock the small midge dry. Up top, down below, or in your favorite midge haunt.
Nymphing pretty good overall. Some slow periods will drive you mad. Then the fish get on the bite again. Then they will drive you happy. Most fishing deep. Insides lanes. Slower water in the morning and faster water in the afternoon.
Another month of swinging to be had. 2 handed rods available for demo at the shop. Lots of cool opportunities on the water too. The Kreelex not he end of the line was making it happen yesterday.
Fish up towards the top or get it down low. The middle is super hot too.
Shop open daily @8am with spring special guide trips and cheap lodging in Craig. Izaak’s open daily but Monday at 4pm. Shovel in some killer BBQ. Joe’s Bar open too.
Welcome back to Craig this spring!
