What are we waiting for? More cloud cover. That would help a ton. And, the hatches of late have been a touch on the light side. Pretty good mega hatches on the front end of the month, we are anticipating some blanket hatches to get us the through this last week of October into November.
Back int he day before I lived here full time I would enjoy some solace on the river in November. Baetis hatches until the Turkey had his last free range day.

Missouri River Water Temps
Missouri River Water Temps are in the low 50’s. 50.5F this morning. A temperature we can live with. Shoot, love it.
Those temps are right in the wheelhouse for the big baetis to come. And come they sort of have. Sightings of baetis tricaudatus with some decent hatches reported on the river. The baetis will remain a player for another month. Yep, for another month. The midge and diptera are around to keep things interesting.
Missouri River Flows
3010cfs on the USGS Gauge and will hold all winter long. Slight and inconsistent hiccups will keep the line squiggly, but will not affect the angling this fall and winter. We will see more water int he river as the spring and summer of 2014 get nearer.
The weeds have not been a problem and the remainder of said greenery will fade away down the river as the days become shorter.

November can bring days where you may be the only angler in the area. The drift? Yah, maybe. Wade or boat fish for preparation of the baetis hatch.
