October Missouri River Fly Fishing Report 10.22.16
All is well here in the 406. The only thing we would like to see is more overcast skies.
Yep. Overcast skies, 45F, moist, and wind free. Calm. Eerily calm.
Yes indeed, the fishing is good.
The nymphing is off the charts. Great. Good. Damn fine indeed.
Sows, scuds, PT’s and derivations thereof. Most are splitshotless with 3′-4′ between bobber and fly.
The streamer bite is not too terrific based on yesterdays efforts. But it is bound to improve. The reports this entire last week have been pretty apathetic. Anemic. Awful.
Dry flies? The Big BWO’s are not here yet. They are coming. Soon. We think. The water temps are in the correct range. So, soon.
Be in your dry fly spot when the hatch begins. The tiny BWO’s are evident though and success can be had with cripples and soft hackles.
Beyond that, all good here. A great time to be here. Honest.
