Oh Boy! What a weekend ahead!
Looking pretty fishy out there the week ahead.
Cold and snowy too.
So you get to choose. Go out in the severe cold temps, fight the wind, and not see another angler.
And get into some late October winter weather…
Probably get into a good bite. The water temps are perfect. The bugs are hatching. The swing bite is good. The nymph bite is sick! The streamer fishing has been creating opportunities all day long.
Or take the weekend off and come outside after the storm cycle has passed.
Some guide trips have moved their dates to later in the month or November. Others have not, gathering courage to head out into the Missouri River with high hopes, low air temps, and warm gloves.
Speaking of gloves. stop by the shop and pick up some discontinued glove deals that will have you getting a couple pairs! One for your wife? Or two?
Izaak’s will try to stay open thru Halloween! So if you want more smoked goods, and we here at the shop certainly do, you oughtta get over there for some good grub soon!
The remainder of the food outlets that will be open thru the rest of the month. A quick update from Shotgun Annie’s in WC is open thru the remainder of the month. Cooking till 8pm nightly and breakfast on the weekend days Saturday and Sunday. Taco Shack in Craig Closed. Trout Shop closed. Cascade Bars open all winter
The shop open daily at 8am. We are not terribly afraid of this weather. We live here. We gotta endure it! And enjoy it! Stop in for a warm up, a suggestion, a good conversation about 2HTROUT gear and technique, dry fly spots in the wind lee, and of course always the only fly shop in Craig with WI-FI, the only fly shop in Craig with cell phone service, sale items, gloves, hats, socks, waders, jackets, ranger, hand warmers…

This is an extraordinarily beautiful and evocative photograph. Thanks for posting it.
Thanks James. Love that one too. From the Craig Bridge.
Like a Russel Chatham print! I feel like I have made that comment about other photos featured on the blog… Might be the photographers style, or just the western landscape soaked in seasonal moods and weather. Either way, I like it!
Oh Boy records. Do not forget John Prine.
