The reason for the smoke is…FIRE!
A bunch of fires to the NW of us here in Craig MT. The prevailing winds are SSW. No wonder!
Check out the InciWeb site for up to date fire information. Maps, individual fires, containment, plans, images…all you need to know before hopping in your car roaming around Montana with a fly rod jammed in the trunk.
Ran into some fellers the other day who had planned to head into fire territory. After checking the InciWeb site they changed their plans!
The Alice Creek Fire is binging smoke to us daily. Some ash too. It is up the road in Augusta. Several fires across the divide are sending smoke this way. When you pass through Lincoln, a longtime firefighting town, you can see evidence of fires on the hillsides.
Helena – Lewis & Clark Nat’l Forest has Alice Creek, Ditch Creek, Crucifixion Creek, Park Creek, and Arrastra Creek Totaling 27K acres of fire. Some of the larger fires total that figure by themselves. In one fire!
It is smoky here in Craig. Will it clear out? Hopefully soon. We are ready. It has not blocked out the sun like it didi during some of those fire season in the early 2000’s. So we got that going for ourselves.
The good news is that Izaak’s is open tonight. Labor Day weekend is on our doorstep. The official end of summer is nearly upon us. Fall is near. BWO’ fill our minds. We are throwing down rain dances daily!
