Thursday Fishing Report straight outta Craig MT
Flows 3110cfs
Water Temps 46F. Crazy hitch yesterday?!
Dry Flies coming off daily. Sun does not help them stick on the water though. An today with temps nearing the 80F mark the wings of those olive mayflies will dry rapidly before they become airborne. Midge ubiquitous. March Browns on the menu. Lower. A great short lived hatch that those who seek it, will reap the dry fly rewards.
Nymphers are really tallying some big numbers. Sows, Worms, March Brown nymphs, BWO nymphs, and very soon, caddis pupa’s. Find your perfect depth and roll with it. Split or not. The bugs move towards the top of the water column as the day progresses.
Streamer anglers finding them in some quicker water. Flashy is still the preferred theme. Kreelex, Sparkle Minnow, Rusty Trombone, Goldie, and more in store. See our vast streamer selection with offerings for the two handed fan as well. Lots!
Anglers seem to be canyon crazy. Lots of boats in that reach.
Some wind and rain for the next couple days here on the river with reasonable and seasonable weather fro the next wee. Air temps in the 50’s, night time temps int he 30’s.
Snow pack is looking better. We would appreciate the continuation of the wet trend we are currently holding in, yes more please. Night tome temps under 40 are good for the next few weeks.
Lodging and guides available all week long. Stop in for a free cup of Joe, perked of course. Shuttles, rental boats, new clothing, gloves, sun shirts, hats and flips from SIMMS, the Skwala line, the new Sage R8 Core is in stock and selling to happy anglers, sunscreen, great advice, Wi-Fi, and th4e friendliest fly shop staff in the Sri-County Area…Open daily 8am.

Can’t appreciate these reports enough… thanks for being awesome
Nice image. It was May 2017. Our fourth anniversary. Streamer fish. Our (not my) first MO trip. Rainy, windy cold-ish that day. Shorts and flops the day before I think. Amazing week. Thanks for jogging the memory HH.
Thanks Darrell. Looking forward to seeing you again.
